Shabeh Jomeh proudly celebrated a decade of networking with amazing support from the community. Almost 20 local businesses and organizations came together to make the night a tremendous success attracting around 400 guests over the course of the evening.
The event also marked the final event for Neda Nabavi as Executive Director.
A FAREWELL MESSAGE FROM NEDA NABAVI
Dear Shabeh Jomeh Chicago Chapter, A decade ago I launched the Chicago Chapter of Shabeh Jomeh. It is amazing to see how many of you who are here tonight, were there 10 years ago. Since 2003 Shabeh Jomeh Chicago has flourished and hosted/participated over 120 events all over Chicago.
I am proud to be a part of an organization that has connected so many people within our Iranian community as well as to our local communities. We have improved Iranians’ relations with one another and given back to the community by coming together. We have participated in events at the Cook County Treasurer’s Office, Chicago Children’s Museum, The Gene Siskel Film Center, Chicago Nowruz Parade, and others.
We have supported organizations such as the Walter & Connie Payton Foundation, Association House of Chicago, Pasfarda Arts & Cultural Exchange, Iranian American Medical Association, Iranian American Bar Association, National Iranian American Council, Public Affairs Alliance of Iranian Americans and many more. With pride in our achievements as an organization, I want to thank you all for helping make Shabeh Jomeh the success that it is. I hope that you can see how far we have come in the community in just 10 years.
I leave you all with this thought “The currency of real networking is not greed but generosity.” (Keith Ferrazzi) Remember that greed and generosity are not always about money, its time and energy. As you connect and help others whether it is through mentoring, making introductions, or being a sounding board, you will learn something about yourself that will, hopefully, help you develop as a professional.
